A New Tradition!

When we moved into our house almost 5 years ago, we told the kids that our first Christmas in our new house we would have a real tree. Well, it has taken us awhile to make good on that promise. At Thanksgiving dinner my dad was talking about getting a real tree and Danny just couldn't get the idea out of his head. We kept it a "surpirse" from the kids (we don't keep secrets at our house). We loaded them in the car and played 20 questions on our way to the tree lot. We found a great local one on 27th west and 41st south. My dad had told me that I needed to ask when they were cut. To my amazment, they were cut a week ago at a farm in Ogden, so it should last till New Years Day. Anyway, when we pulled into the tree lot the kids went crazy! They couldn't believe they were getting a real tree. It was so fun to watch them. They were laughing and smiling. Caitlin picked a tall spars tree, the rest of us picked tall fat trees. We narrowed it down to 2 trees. Both of them tall and fat. The deciding vote was made by me, it was 5-1. Ryleigh was happy even though her tree stayed for another family to pick. The whole afternoon was like a Norman Rockwell painting, it was amazing! This is one tradition I hope will last for a long time...

How fun is that!! And you'll have that yummy smell in your house for the whole season! Hopefully Andy doesn't read this and get any ideas... ;)

I think that is awesome. There is nothing like a real tree. We used to get real ones, but carl always picked the charlie brown looking trees and that was it for me I said forget it.
